I've come to the conclusion that i will memorize the entire Odyssey and become the century's first bard instead of going to college for a career. Socrates looked to science and logic for answers on the world rather than the gods the Socratic method fostered critical thinking  "the unexamined life is not worth living" charged with impiety (disrespecting the gods) and corrupting the youth of Athens he didn't deny what he did said he deserved free dinner for life for what he did  he was found guilty and sentenced to death by hemlock poisoning Plato student of Socrates he wrote out Socrates teachings described his trial in the Apology  Aristotle student of Plato helped foster the idea of Athens as an intellectual destination  his school focused on cooperative research building on knowledge gathered from all over the world tutored Alexander the great  wrote extensively on every topic known to man

the greeks were absolutely chaotic and it shows

THE GREEKS: iron weapons so ordinary people could afford to arm themselves foot soldiers trained from early ages armed with spears, swords, and shields phalanx formation (h u m a n   t a n K) home field advantage motivation THE PERSIANS: archers cavalry lightly armored infantry huge numbers long way from home professional army Clearly the Greeks should not have one but they did because they are so warlike and thats pretty crazy and they should be feared but not anymore because theyre bankrupt

Greece is surrounded by the ionian sea, Aegean sea, and Adriatic sea, not the black sea like the book said Greece has a lot of mountains, its 75% mountains 2000 islands on the ionian and Aegean  limited natural resources but a lot of olives

you said something about Greece and I didn't hear what pages so I just kind of threw a dart and now im taking notes on page 121 about greek city-states. 2000 BC: Minoan civilization prospers on Crete 1500 BC: Mycenaean culture thrives on greek mainland 1200 BC: Trojan war takes place 750 BC: greek city-states flourish 479 BC: Greece triumphs in Persian wars 334 BC: Alexander begins to build his empire many public buildings had statues of their gods or goddesses I just got a response from Austin apparently I was right about the page numbers rarely had to travel more than 85 miles to reach coastline  Aegean sea, Ionian sea, and the Black sea were important transportation routes Greece lacked natural resources like wood, metal, and farmland
